I am based in London and make documentary work with a focus on narratives about place, people and the environment.

I photograph for editorials, and collaborate with musicians and bands, authors, theatre and film makers.

Whilst I was born and raised in London, my surname is Polish and is pronounced Yen-drosh.

Alongside my practice, I am an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London and a freelance Picture Editor. I founded and run Photo Scratch. Previously I was Picture Researcher and Picture Editor for The Sunday Times Online, and Picture Editor at Reuters on the Wider Image Picture Desk.

Born in South East London, I am the daughter of teachers, sister of a severely disabled brother, and granddaughter of freedom fighters, political activists, peace advocates and a forester. My heritage is British and Polish. A sense of attachment to and fascination with place has been the wellspring of my work, in trying to understand my histories and those of nations, borders and peoples. I strive to make authentic, observant, and emotionally engaged photographs, often led by colour and feeling. My work focuses on topographical and historical connections between people and environment, trying to capture the intensity of lives lived and a sense of emotion below the surface. I am interested in the influence of place, and the shape of it around us, as we follow in the footsteps of those who came before. My sense of curiosity is piqued by scientific, architectural and metaphysical concepts, and these elements often find their way into my work.

As a trained actor and theatre maker at Rose Bruford drama school, the intersection of performance and photography interests me and I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with brilliant creative practitioners in different fields including Johnny Flynn, Dry Cleaning, and The Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2013, I completed the Masters in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication led by Paul Lowe and Max Houghton. In January 2016 I founded Photo Scratch, a work-in-progress and networking event for documentary photographers which has gone on to host events at venues including The Photographers’ Gallery, Hotshoe, Four Corners and The Royal Photographic Society.

I am proud to be part of Women Photograph, a network of female and non-binary independent documentary photographers across the globe.
